I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Jartoo’s “Carbon Nanotube” Heated Blanket raises the bar for comfort.

My review? This is like no other blanket I’ve tried before!

Most of the time my focus is in PC cooling components. However outside of a few exceptions my reviews of CPU Coolers, computer cases, and NVMe heatsinks will be posted to Tom’s Hardware. As a result, I’m going to use this site primarily to explore new opportunities and ideas for reviews – kinda like I first did with NVMe heatsink reviews, I posted those here before taking them to Wccftech and then eventually to Tom’s Hardware.

A blanket review? What?!

Today’s review is of a product completely outside of my typical coverage – rather than focusing on computer cooling, today’s tech review keeps it hot – covering a somewhat revolutionary new heated blanket from newcomer Jartoo. You can check out the Kickstarter page for this product or Jartoo’s website at Jartoo.com if you’d like to check out their other products.

Jartoo claims the secret behind their blanket is the use of “carbon nanotube” technology and claims many benefits from it. The material is thing and silky, light weight, flame resistant, blocks bacteria, and has a quick thermal response – or so they say.

Originally I wasn’t expecting to be impressed by this product after speaking with a Jartoo representative. There was so much technical jargon being thrown around, I felt like the information presented sounded a little too good to be true, it seemed like red flags typical of a crypto con artist or other questionable product at first. This is just a blanket, right!? To my surprise, Jartoo’s Carbon Nanotube heated blanket is sooooo much more than just any ordinary electric blanket.

What comes in the package

To start, here’s a view of the front and back of the box Jartoo’s amazing blanket arrives in.

Opening the box reveals the blanket in a bag, and the accessories within a smaller box on the right side.

The blanket is contained in two parts: The soft bag we see both above and below, but it is also further protected by vacuum sealed plastic.

The accessories box includes the manual, a high quality GAN charger to power the blanket, a wireless controller which includes a rechargeable battery via USB, and a cord necessary to charge it. Regrettably, the included GAN charger cannot be used to recharge the included controller.

There’s also an optional registration card, which offers a one year warranty extension and potential giveaways if you’re into that sort of thing.

This is a legitimately amazing product

From the moment I first powered on the Jartoo Carbon Nanotube Heated Blanket trying to sleep in my bedroom, I was struck by its softness and impressed by how the heat was perfectly spread across unlike traditional electric blankets that can feel stiff or have uneven hotspots. The designers meticulously selected materials that provide evenly spread, natural feeling warmth and a comforting embrace – almost like the the warmth of another’s body. Since using the blanket, I’ve fallen asleep much quicker – and deeper – than I was when using normal, unheated blankets.

The rapid and uniform heating is a game-changer. Within moments of turning Jartoo’s blanket on using the button on the blanket (or alternatively, the Bluetooth remote), you can feel the heat taking effect. If you’re reading this review just to know if Jartoo’s claims hold up to scrutiny – that’s all you really need to know. There are only so many ways I can express my legitimate enthusiasm for this blanket without going overboard and seeming like a shill.

You can use the included Bluetooth controller, but if you’d prefer the K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple, stupid) method of operation you can just click the button shown below to change the temperature setting, one touch at a time raises the temperature – indicated by a change in LED color (orange, green, etc.)

Break-free cord, washing and drying the blanket

I showed you the charger used for this game changing blanket earlier. The long cord connects to another cord that it hidden on the reverse side of the button shown above, you’ll pull a zipper to access it.

The design of the connection ensures nothing breaks if you toss and turn and somehow jank the cord too much – instead of breaking a component, the cord will simply disconnect!

When washing this blanket, you’ll want to put the cord inside of the pocket and zip it back up. Otherwise, you’d wash it in a washing machine as appropriate for a fine blanket of this type. However, to prevent shrinking you’ll want to take care in the drying of it. When I was drying Jartoo’s blanket, I did part of it on low heat in a traditional clothes dryer and then finished the process by letting it air dry as shown below.

And here’s a picture off the blanket after it finished drying, hung on top of a box for display purposes, in case you’re interested in something like that.

My one complaint

Now to be fair – I do have one complaint about this blanket, it isn’t quite perfect.

As a taller person I wish this blanket had a longer length, because it doesn’t quite fully cover my body. As a result, I’m using the Jartoo blanket in conjunction with a longer, unheated blanket to ensure that my feet are covered – but I’d love this blanket so much more if it were long enough to cover my entire body!

Verdict and Conclusion:

Jartoo’s heated blanket provides an amazing experience that helps me sleep better at night. The blanket is comprised of a soft, gentle material and when powered on the heat is distributed evenly, with no hotspots. You might wish this blanket was less expensive, but you won’t regret purchasing it!
